libvips-dev software package provides image processing system good for very large images (dev), you can install in your Ubuntu 14.04 LTS (Trusty Tahr) by running the commands given below on the terminal,
$ sudo apt-get update $ sudo apt-get install libvips-dev
libvips-dev is installed in your system.
Make ensure the libvips-dev package were installed using the commands given below,
$ sudo dpkg-query -l | grep libvips-dev *
You will get with libvips-dev package name, version, architecture and description in a table
